Firkin Rare Bottle Story
Never has a Firkin Rare release been more aptly named Rare! First of all you have to find the Aultmore distillery. Its located on the Foggie moss burn outside Keith in Speyside. That gives you a clue as that stretch of the road leading to the distillery often disappears in a blanket of fog
This is an Aultmore 2010 which has been paired with a tawny port in one of our fabulous Firkin custom casks. Somewhat of rarity for Aultmore to be bottled as a single malt but now its available you can understand what the blenders have been keeping to themselves all these years.
So why pair Aultmore with Tawny Port? They have something in common as both are seen as being smoother and less robust then their brothers. Tawny port is softer and more subtle than Ruby Port and the tawny flavours melt into the Aultmore spirit over time in our custom made twin oak cask.
The result is a dram that reflects the best of both worlds. Firkin Rare - something rich & succulent to savour
There’s a time and a place when you get all those wonderful ingredients that make a great malt come together. This malt delivers all of this by the bucketful. Big, fresh nose of red fruit and oak spice, it rolls over the taste buds. Kinda round and long with a ripper combo of red fruit, creamy malt, bright spirit and cinnamon oak.
Just hangs around - simply Firkin Ace!
