This single malt whisky hails from one of Islay’s best known distilleries which sits on the craggy Kildalton shoreline where the Lords of the Isles held their seat of power.
“I love everything about this whisky. It is full-on Islay with all the peatiness and phenol you could wish for but also fruity enough to make it balanced and interesting. Younger Islay malts can often be over the top in phenol and a little farmyardy if you get what I mean but this dram is all there and good to go!”
The nose is immediately briny and smoky with some pleasant yellow skinned fruit notes. The palate gives oily, peaty flavours which build in intensity towards the distinctive smoky, iodine finish.
