Wonderful polished zinc colour slightly green around the edges. The first impression is rich and unctuous. Iodine and warm charcoal embers come through on the nose. There is a refreshing prickle to the aroma similar to that of a forest early on a spring morning and at the same time a rich aroma similar to the smell of new leather. With water the nose becomes slightly musty and the strength of the phenolic aromas disperses to give way to an interesting Indian spice. Fantastic depth.
The immediate mouthfeel is awesome. Mouth watering to begin with and then instant dryness, only to see the return of the mouth watering richness. Water lifts the palate of this malt exceptionally well. A salty fore taste and woody notes quickly give way to a curious sweet, citrus tang. Wonderful peaty fumes float around the mouth.
The finish is delightful and long with a delicious bitter peppermint aftertaste. An Islay lovers dream

Information: Mark Harris är stolt över att kunna presentera sina första buteljeringar av Single Cask, Single Malt Whiskies. De flesta buteljerade vid så kallad Cask Strength och alla ofärgade och utan kyl-filtrering. Whiskyn buteljeras precis så som den är när den kommer ur fatet. Detta ger ett begränsat antal flaskor för varje sort. Även om ett "syster-fat" har liknande karaktär så är ändå varje fat unikt.
Mark väljer all whisky själv och bedömer var och en efter hur han upplever den ur en "glädje" -faktor och mindre av dess intrikata smakprofil. Han vill att varje whisky ha en "wow" -faktor innan han väljer ut fatet och hitills så har kritiker, konnässörer och andra maltwhisky-kännare varit positiva.
När han valde whisky till sin första buteljering var Mark noga med att inte bara välja från kända destillerier utan även från destillerier med inte fullt så kända namn, som t.ex. Macduff, Benrinnes och Tamdhu. Han blev mycket glad och även överaskad av hur väl framförallt Macduff blivit mottagen och har den har blivit hans mest populära buteljering. |
